The Collaborative Internet: Usage Trends, Employee Attitudes and IT Impacts
Fourth Annual Survey, October 2008
Work and Private PCs
Three in four endusers engage in personal tasks on their work computer,
testimony to the continued blurring of work and personal spaces.
A wide variety of applications and services are used on work PCs. Not
surprisingly, email to friends and family is most common, followed by surfing
the web and banking/personal finance.
Patterns of personal activity on work computers have changed in the last year.
Media uses-the downloading of music, pictures or video-has skyrocketed from 18%
of users to 44 percent of users in the past 12 months.
