Press Release
FaceTime's Web and IM Security Solutions Now Available for Virtualized
Environments
Unified Security Gateway supports VMWare; ideal for virtualized branch offices to
lower cost and environmental footprint
BELMONT, Calif - June 15, 2009 - FaceTime Communications, the leading
provider of solutions enabling the safe use of Web 2.0 and unified
communications in the enterprise today announced that its Unified Security
Gateway version 2.2 (USG 2.2) now supports VMWare to enable virtual server
deployment. Deploying USG 2.2 on a virtual server provides a higher return on
investment for existing virtual environments, eliminates the time and cost
associated with on-site equipment installation and further reduces the
environmental footprint of the IT infrastructure.
FaceTime's Unified Security Gateway (USG) is a secure Web gateway purpose-built
for the new Internet to provide a single point of control for preventing
malware, controlling Web 2.0 applications and managing information leakage in
corporate networks. The new USG gives IT managers visibility and control for
over 2,100 Web 2.0 and real-time applications in use by employees.
Because the USG provides consolidated policy management and reporting at the
user and group level, a single VM server can be configured to span multiple
network locations to provide a comprehensive Web and unified communications
security solution with centralized management and control. This creates a low
cost but robust solution for virtualized branch offices.
"The appeal of virtualization is clear, with dramatic increases in server
utilization, and reduced infrastructure and support costs," said Nishant
Jadhav, director of product management for FaceTime Communications. "Moving Web
security and unified communications management into the virtualized environment
will increase its advantage even further, as more consolidation results in
greater return on investment."
Unified Security Gateway 2.2
USG v. 2.2 supports VMWare Server 1.06, 1.07 and 2.0 as well as ESX 3.5. The
VMWare implementation allows failover between multiple instances of the USG,
providing resiliency without requiring the extra cost of physically redundant
appliances.
USG integrates Web 2.0 application detection and control, gateway malware
protection and Web filtering with FaceTime's best-in-class IM hygiene and
archiving, in a purpose-built, hardened appliance. With this single point of
control, more than 2,100 Web and real-time applications and many thousands of
social networking applications can be tracked, monitored and controlled to give
organizations complete visibility into all Internet communications, and
simplify administration.
With USG, IT administrators can set time of day or usage policies across all
applications and view detailed reports to gain complete visibility into
employees use of the network – not only in terms of browsing but also specific
Web 2.0 usage. This complete visibility and control provides IT with a distinct
advantage in managing network resources in addition to securing against inbound
malware and putting controls in place to prevent outbound data leakage.
