FaceTime Partners with SurfControl for Integrated Web Filtering

RTGuardian appliances provide fastest, most effective platform for Web security and control

FOSTER CITY, CALIF. - May 1, 2007 - FaceTime Communications, the leading provider of solutions for securing and managing IM, P2P and Web-based greynets, today announced a partnership with SurfControl Inc., a leading provider of global on-demand, network and endpoint IT security solutions, to deliver SurfControl's award-winning URL categorization and filtering technology on the latest version of its high-performance RTGuardian series Web security appliances.

SurfControl's Web filtering database of more than 20 million URLs provides hourly updates and real-time intelligence technologies, offering accurate, comprehensive and relevant Internet content security.

"The Internet has changed significantly in the past few years," said Frank Cabri, vice president of marketing for FaceTime Communications Inc. "In addition to Web browsing, employees are increasingly relying on real-time Internet applications such as instant messaging, Skype, Web conferencing, P2P file sharing and anonymizers, many of them unsanctioned by IT staff. This new breed of greynets can create holes in the network infrastructure through which stealthy malware breaks in and confidential information leaks out."

IT security managers have had the means to manage and control browser-based traffic for some time, however, mid to large enterprise customers are looking for a single point of control over Web traffic and presence-oriented greynets such as IM and P2P. FaceTime Internet Security Edition - consisting of RTGuardian and Greynet Enterprise Manager (GEM) products - is the industry's first security solution that provides comprehensive visibility and control for Web-based traffic and all real-time communication channels.

"Combining the power of FaceTime's greynet security with SurfControl's Web filter technology can help customers increase overall network visibility and dramatically reduce instances of malicious online activity," said Rocco Donnino, vice president of worldwide business development at SurfControl. "Our shared goal is to provide users with the most comprehensive security experience possible when accessing the Internet within the corporate enterprise."

FaceTime Security Labs researchers have long reported that the complexity and sophistication of spyware and other malware has grown so that an infected PC typically will not show outward signs of infection. Rather, it is more likely that undetected malware sits on the PC long-term, gathering information or recruited into a botnet army to fuel click fraud or other illegal schemes. These incidents often take advantage of multiple communications channels in the process, requiring a comprehensive perimeter solution that is capable of detecting and enforcing policies on all real-time Internet channels.

About RTGuardian
RTGuardian provides a single point of control for all Web and real-time communications, as well as lowering operational costs and simplifying administration for IT management. By combining Web filtering with security and management of emerging applications such as IM, P2P and Skype, FaceTime extends the IT budget, providing a better value than point products used to secure IM and Web traffic separately. FaceTime will brand the SurfControl technology as the FaceTime Web Filter.

Operating on a purpose-built appliance platform, RTGuardian detects and interprets all Internet activity with zero latency. Enterprises can manage employee use of all Internet channels—both greynets and the Web—with a single solution using unified policy management.

RTGuardian 4.1 with the FaceTime Web Filter is available now from FaceTime Communications and authorized distributors and partners worldwide. For pricing and additional information call 1-888-349-3223 or visit www.facetime.com.
