FaceTime Wins Prestigious SC Magazine "Best Buy" Award
FaceTime Enterprise Edition Scores Top Marks in Public and Private IM Security
FOSTER CITY, CALIF - September 14, 2005 - FaceTime Communications today
announced that FaceTime Enterprise Edition™ has been recognized as SC
Magazine's "Best Buy" in a group test of instant messaging (IM) security
products. FaceTime Enterprise Edition is used by the world's largest firms to
manage, secure and control IM, P2P, spyware and other greynet applications.
Without effective management and control mechanisms, enterprises are vulnerable
to a wide variety of threats that can lead to leakage of confidential
information, corporate and regulatory compliance violations, and even identity
theft.
During rigorous testing, SC Magazine analyzed how well eight products provided
security for private and public IM systems. Features including content
filtering, anti-virus, anti-spam and auditing were compared. FaceTime beat
seven other vendors including Akonix, Sybari and Websense to come out on top of
the independent review. SC Magazine hailed the FaceTime solution for being a
"powerful and highly configurable enterprise-level system with the features to
match."
"Our reviews process is very stringent," said Jon Tullett, global technology
editor at SC Magazine. "Any product that scores high marks with us, and gets a
'Best Buy' rating, really is worthy of consideration by prospective customers."
"It is great to be recognized so highly by an independent IT security authority
such as SC Magazine," said Jonathan Christensen, CTO and VP of Products,
FaceTime Communications. "FaceTime Enterprise Edition delivers on the promise
of managing and securing IM applications so that company data and internal
resources can be protected."
IM, P2P and spyware applications are part of a category of networked
applications that FaceTime calls 'greynets.' Greynets are network enabled
applications that are installed on an end user's system without permission from
IT and are highly evasive at the network level.
FaceTime Enterprise Edition is a comprehensive solution for the end-to-end
security, management and compliance of real-time communications consisting of
managing user policy, hygiene, archiving for compliance, blocking unauthorized
usage, and protecting the network against sophisticated workarounds. The
solution can also be configured to prevent spyware infection and offer targeted
remediation of spyware-infected desktops. FaceTime Enterprise Edition works
with all public and enterprise IM clients to offer:
-
Complete logging, auditing and archiving of IM
-
Content scanning & keyword matching to prevent disclosure of proprietary
information
-
Network protection with anti-virus and anti-spim controls
-
Authentication of user identities and ability to block high-risk features
-
Prevention of unauthorized IM and P2P connections
