FaceTime Announces Support for Microsoft® Office Live Communications Server 2005 Beta

Expanding Security, Management and Compliance Functionality for Live Communications Server 2005 with Unique IM Enforcement Tools

FOSTER CITY, Calif. - July 21, 2004 - FaceTime Communications, the leading provider of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and other forms of real-time communications, today announced its support for the beta release version of the Microsoft® Office Live Communications Server 2005 and its advanced federation tools supporting new scenarios for IM beyond the corporate LAN. Support includes company-to-company and company-to-public IM. Within these enterprise deployments, FaceTime's solutions enable IT administrators to contain existing public IM usage to ensure standardized use of Live Communications Server 2005. Additionally, FaceTime provides market-leading solutions that complement and extend the feature set available in Live Communications Server 2005 with enhanced management functionality, which includes anti-virus, anti-spam, message archival, and advanced content filtering capabilities.

"At IDC we see strong demand for Live Communications Server 2005," said Robert Mahowald, Research Manager, Collaborative Computing at IDC. "Further adoption of IM in the enterprise only increases the requirement to have a rich set of advanced security, policy and compliance management capabilities such as those offered by FaceTime."

"By eliminating the proliferation of multiple client software versions on the desktop, IT administrators have the opportunity to reduce security risks and lower the total cost of ownership without limiting end user connectivity options," said Jonathan Christensen, FaceTime's CTO and vice president of products. "As the only provider of enterprise-grade, perimeter and LAN solutions for IM security and management, our 'defense-in-depth' solutions allow enterprises to benefit from their investments by enforcing both IM user policy management and application behavior management."

FaceTime's solutions are designed to complement and extend the Live Communications Server 2005 environment, utilizing Windows Server 2003, Microsoft SQL Server, and Live Communications Server 2005.

FaceTime's new federation and migration solutions include:

  • Discovery, enabling a company to identify and discover IM, P2P and VoIP usage as a first step towards securing, managing and controlling their appropriate usage.

  • Migration and Enforcement Tools, enabling the migration of ad hoc IM usage to the IT standard and supported IM infrastructure, i.e. Live Communication Server 2005.

  • Integrated Defense-in-Depth, assuring user policy management and compliance are applied on an individual, group and enterprise-wide basis with perimeter and LAN components. FaceTime offers the industry's only integrated two-tier solution.

  • Block Unauthorized IM and P2P Usage, controlling the increased "surface area" for security attacks and enforcing real-time communication security policies.

  • Enable IM Standardization, assuring that all IM usage is through the LCS 2005 Access Proxy over the networks that a corporation chooses to standardize on.

  • Corporate, HR and Regulatory Compliance Requirements, meeting compliance requirements through a rich set of content filtering, auditing, review and workflow capabilities for regulated and non-regulated industries.

  • Anti-Virus Scanning, enabling companies to scan files transferred over IM for malware and exploits.

  • Patent Pending, Anti-SPIM, enabling companies to block IM-based spam or "SPIM," through a challenge-response mechanism.

  • Archival and Storage, expanding companies' ability to capture, audit and then archive all instant messages either standalone within FaceTime's solutions or exported to the leading e-mail archival and storage systems.

FaceTime's solutions are available today and will support the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 at launch.
