Press Release
FaceTime Builds on Global Presence with New Channel Partners in Australia,
Japan, and Taiwan
Latest Relationships Combine with New Asia Pacific Office to Meet Growing
Worldwide Demand for FaceTime's Industry-Leading Instant Messaging Security and
Management Solutions
FOSTER CITY, Calif. - June 28, 2004 - FaceTime Communications, the leading provider
of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and other
forms of real-time communications, today announced it has expanded its global
reach through new partnerships with Gresham Computing, a leading software
systems integrator in Australia; NEC System Technologies LTD., an IT platform
software developer, systems integrator and subsidiary of NEC Corporation in
Japan; and Solomon Technology Corp., a leading content security solutions
distributor (through its System Applications Business Unit) in Taiwan. As part
of the agreements, Gresham, NEC System Technologies, and Solomon will resell
FaceTime's industry-leading solutions in their respective territories where IM
use has caught up with high Internet penetration and use of mobile messaging,
generating demand for security and compliance solutions that are uniquely
engineered to operate in double-byte operating environments.
In addition, FaceTime appointed Olavs Ritenis to a new post in Sydney,
Australia from where he will build on the company's Asia Pacific presence as
director of business development for APAC. Mr. Ritenis has seventeen years of
sales, marketing, and business development experience with enterprise messaging
solutions in the Asian and Australian markets. The new FaceTime office and APAC
partnerships combine with an additional alliance struck with AmVia, a solution
enhancing company focusing on messaging and convergence in South Africa, for an
expanded global presence that already includes Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom,
and the United States.
"With IM now recognized as an integral part of corporate communications, we're
seeing a domino effect, whereas IM is used by organizations to connect
geographically dispersed offices for true collaboration on a global scale,"
said FaceTime Vice President of Channel Sales Sherry Walden. "FaceTime is
prepared to meet this next wave of demand through our alliances with our global
partners."
FaceTime continues to expand its Channel Partner Program to meet new
international demand as many organizations are leveraging IM and presence to
collaborate with employees, customers and partners in offices deployed around
the world. The FaceTime Channel Partner Program is designed to enable leading
resellers and system integrators in the messaging, collaboration and security
markets to expand their solution offerings by incorporating FaceTime's products
for the security, management and control of real-time communications, such as
IM and P2P.
"We are proud to join FaceTime in helping Taiwanese businesses and their global
counterparts safely leverage instant messaging for greater productivity and
collaboration," said Vice President of System Applications Business Unit Dabby
Yang at Solomon Technology Corp. "With clear market leadership, strong customer
momentum and the most comprehensive IM solution suite available, FaceTime is
everything we look for when striking important alliances."
"NEC System Technologies is looking forward to introducing FaceTime
Communications' market leading IM security solutions to Japan," said Kazuyuki
Jimbo, general manager of the Network Software Division of NEC System
Technologies. "IM usage by Japanese corporations is growing rapidly as they
realize the value of being able to connect instantly and easily with contacts.
However, there is an increasing concern over information security within
corporations using IM. As a result, we are now seeing tremendous demand in
Japan for solutions that secure, manage and control enterprise IM."
