Press Release
FaceTime Communications Announces Free Utility, RT MonitorTM, for the Identification of Unauthorized IM and P2P Usage in the Enterprise
FOSTER CITY, Calif., Mar. 22, 2004 - Furthering its leadership as the premier provider of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and other forms of real-time communications in the enterprise, FaceTime Communications today announced the immediate availability of RT MonitorTM, a free utility tool that detects all real-time communications activity within and across corporate networks. With RT Monitor, IT administrators receive a detailed report that enables them to know exactly how much IM, P2P and VoIP are being used throughout their enterprises so potential security and compliance risks can be properly assessed.
"IT organizations today need an easy-to-use, instantaneous way to identify the extent of IM, P2P and VoIP use throughout the enterprise that may affect their corporate networks," said Rahul Abhyankar, director of Product Management at FaceTime Communications. "RT Monitor makes it extremely easy to obtain this critical insight, which is not available otherwise."
Real-time communications in the enterprise is growing at an unprecedented rate. Benefits such as increased productivity and cost savings make IM invaluable to the enterprise, but unauthorized and unmanaged real-time communications can put any organization at significant risk. The FaceTime RT Monitor helps expose potential risks by enabling organizations to instantly discover IM, P2P and VoIP activity, including those that may circumvent a network solution. FaceTime RT Monitor provides detailed reporting on the number of connection attempts, number of messages and file transfers, bandwidth consumed and ports used by these popular applications so IT can get a clearer picture of existing usage and plan for effective best practices, management, security and risk mitigation.
The FaceTime RT Monitor provides usage statistics on the following networks:
· AIM/ICQ
· MSN Messenger
· Yahoo!
· FastTrack (KaZaA)
· Gnutella
· MFTP
· Skype
The tool is FREE, easy to download and install and available on the FaceTime website at www.facetime.com.
